I’m testing out a keen new feature of 30 Boxes, called Buddy Cards. The basic idea is that, for those individuals who have an account at 30Boxes, whenever they leave a comment, it will detect that their email address matches the address of their 30Boxes account, and VIOLA, a buddy card is displayed.
If you have a 30Boxes account, and leave a comment at this posting, you can test it out. I’ll leave one as a sample. Once you have posted (and verified) your comment, you’ll show up here. Neat, eh?
The more I use 30 Boxes, the more I like it. Sure, it’s a remarkably stable calendar, and that’s worth the price of admission alone, but it’s much more than that. For example, it’s pretty easy to syndicate content from my calendar to any website.
For instance, you can go here to see a complete schedule of my kids’ soccer games, and that’s pretty cool by itself. However, there’s more:
That’s just scratching the tip of the iceberg. Thanks to SMS reminders, I get a message sent to my cellphone an hour before each game. Plus, if you want to know what I’m up to, you can always check out my buddy page and find out. If you decide to give it a try, let me know, and I may even be able to point you to some useful resources.
Over at Big Flaming Pile, there an experiment going on. Brian has opened up a wall in his room to the internet, and allows people to submit things they’d like for him to write. Well, on a whim, I submitted a quote from my favorite pioneer in film, Charlie Chaplin.
Brian just sent me a very nice note to let me know that he had written what I’d suggested on his wall and had even drawn a picture of the little tramp. That’s pretty darn cool.
