Kororaa LiveCD

So I was reading some geekery of one kind or another (I honestly don’t remember what), when I found out about the Kororaa project and the LiveCD they have available for download. I downloaded the ISO file, burned it to a CD, and all I can say is wow. This is basically a proof-of-concept LiveCD that proves that a fully OpenGL powered windowing environment is not only possible, but it can perform like a champ.

If you have the opportunity, check it out. It’s gorgeous.

Zoe On The Field

Zoe on the FieldAfter being sick the first week, Zoe got a chance to go out on the field and strut her stuff last Saturday. Basking in the warm(ish) Saturday morning sun, Daniele, Harry, and I got to watch Zoe’s team, the Blue Jays, demonstrate to their adversaries why little girls may look cute, but they can be terminators on the field.

Zoe’s team scored goal after goal, and both Daniele and I beamed with pride as Zoe raced up and down the field. In fact, those girls moved so fast, I didn’t get as many photos, but I did post a few of the ones I did get in the gallery.

Harry’s First Soccer Game

Harry On the FieldSoccer season started yesterday, and Harry got to play his first game. Needless to say, both Daniele and I were there, cameras in hand, and got a whole slew of photographs.

Harry was a dynamo in soccer shorts. After two seasons of watching his sister get to play soccer, this was his turn to shine, and he was positively glowing. It was a windy day, and everyone was bundled up tightly, but that didn’t stop the kids from having a great game.

Unfortunately, Zoe had a nasty stomach ache and fever that morning, so she wasn’t able to join her team for their first game. However, next week she’ll get a chance to go out on the field and show her stuff.

You can, as always, check out the photo gallery for pictures.

Check out my talented kid’s work!!

I can’t begin to tell you how proud I am of Zoe’s artistic abilities.

I found this on the floor near the trash can the other day. I picked it up and assumed it was something either Yvonne had done, or that Zoe had traced. No, ZOE- 8 year old ZOE- drew it.

Zoe's Art

She threw it away because she thought the head was too small. (!!!)

Write On His Big Flaming Pile

Chaplin quote on the wallOver at Big Flaming Pile, there an experiment going on. Brian has opened up a wall in his room to the internet, and allows people to submit things they’d like for him to write. Well, on a whim, I submitted a quote from my favorite pioneer in film, Charlie Chaplin.

Brian just sent me a very nice note to let me know that he had written what I’d suggested on his wall and had even drawn a picture of the little tramp. That’s pretty darn cool.

Spring Soccer!

We just got the call from Harry’s soccer coach! Practice starts on Monday, March 6 at 5:00. He is SO excited!! Zoe’s soccer team will presumably resume on March 16. The first games of the season are on March 18.

And oh yes, there WILL be pictures. ;-)
